From £25 - £35

14 March 2024

10.30am – 2.30pm

Join MK Gallery’s Inclusive Practice in the Arts team and Attenborough Arts Centre in a creative sharing day exploring the hugely successful Art and Us and SENsory Atelier programmes. With discussions and presentations led by programme producers, and an interactive workshop with inclusive practitioners Matt Shaw and Sian Watson Taylor, this is an event not to be missed for those interested in initiating or developing sensory or SEND-specific programmes.

Running since 2018, Art and Us is MK Gallery’s weekly artist-led programme for children aged 5+ with additional and complex support needs, and their families. It has gained national recognition as a best-practice example of inclusive gallery programming, offering bespoke creative workshops for families. Art and Us is grounded in building long-term meaningful relationships, and breaking down barriers to the arts and is facilitated by a team of dedicated specially trained artists and practitioners.

“Taking part in this programme is essential to my child’s development, it could mean that she could achieve more than we have dreamt to be possible for her.” Art and Us parent/carer

Since 2016, Attenborough Arts Centre’s SENsory Atelier programme has developed an innovative model for SEND education by putting arts, creativity and culture at its heart. SENsory Atelier works in partnership with nine Leicestershire Special Schools and their teachers, support staff and leadership, as well as artists who bring varied sensory practices to collaborate with young people and their families through artistic residencies and gallery visits and performances.
