Portrait Drawing

15 August 2023

3pm & 7pm

Enjoy a lightly guided session drawing from a live portrait model with our Associate Artist and portrait specialist Paul Berryman.

These sessions offer a chance for everyone from complete novices to experienced portraitists to draw in a professional but non-judgemental environment. Included in the price are a broad variety of drawing materials including boards, clips and papers, as well as Paul’s personal support if needed.

Using our professional lighting set-up and a live model, you’ll enjoy drawing with contrasting light and shadows for most of the two hours, as Paul introduces some positive concepts to consider at the start of the session. The actual sittings will be four equal sessions each of around 25 minutes, with the model posed in the same way to facilitate longer pieces of work if you choose, or you are free to move around to complete work from more than one angle. There will be short breaks in between each sitting to allow a refreshed view of your work and stretch your legs.

The sessions are not a workshop or led minute-by-minute, they are however the perfect place to develop your skills in a friendly and supportive environment, with guidance available from an experienced and approachable professional artist. Choose from afternoon or evening sessions, with slots from 3-5pm or 7-9pm available. Pre-booking is required.
