FREE, MK Gallery Project Space

11am – 7pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday

Exhibition preview: Thursday 4 July / 4-6pm / All welcome

This exhibition is a celebration of bold ideas and creative processes led by Year 9 art and textiles students from Lord Grey Academy, Bletchley. Developed in response to Paula Rego: Obedience and Defiance, the exhibition highlights many of the challenges explored by Rego - from the 1960s to the present day - as a continued concern for this generation of young artists.

For History Repeats, students also rose to the challenge of creating an exhibition in MK Gallery’s Project Space in less than a week. The exhibition documents initial questions, observations and expression of ideas in response to Rego’s work.  It is a work in progress rather than a fully developed conclusion. It is a starting point, where students have let their imagination and creativity flow. It is a working ‘sketchbook’ where they and their teachers have embraced unknown possibilities and unforeseen challenges.
